The company was founded in 1800, and produces a wide range of tequilas and tequila-based spirits. They have recently vamped up production and have started manufacturing a range of Gins, Vodka, and even Whiskey.The master distiller selects the highest quality 100 percent blue agave aejo and reposado tequilas that have been separately aged in specially charred, French Limousin oak barrels. The aejo tequila is aged up to eighteen months in the bespoke French oak, and the reposado is rested for almost a year. These tequilas are then combined and then hand blended with the essence of the Damiana flower, a flower indigenous to the rolling mountains of Jalisco. Damiana grows wild in this region of Mexico, and it has long been believed to have been used by the indigenous people of Mexico to incite desire, essentially, as an aphrodisiac. At 64 proof, Agavero is a pretty mellow versatile spirit.
