The Glenrothes 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glenrothes is an award-winning single malt Scotch whisky from the town of Rothes in Speyside, Scotlands Scotch whisky making heartland. The distillery has a storied history that dates back to 1879 that is how long it has been crafting one of the worlds finest whisky. Situated adjacent to the Burn of Rothes in the Speyside region of Scotland, The Glenrothes Distillery was founded in 1879 by James Stuart, who had previously been employed at The Macallan Distillery. The distillerys history is marred by tragedy in 1897, construction workers who were attempting to expand the capacity of the distillery started a fire that consumed much of the distillerys infrastructure and equipment. Twenty-five years later, a fire at the distillerys original warehouse caused the loss of 200,000 gallons of maturing whisky. Despite having lost ten copper-pot stills in various accidents since its founding, the Glenrothes Distillery is now a picture of harmony and tranquility.A combination of many factors, including slow distillation in tall copper stills and maturation in exceptional oak casks deliver expressions with their own unique personalities, underpinned by distinctive the hallmark characteristics of the distillery ripe fruits, citrus, vanilla and an exquisite spicy finish all encased in the creamiest of textures and with a complex and well-poised balance.Long known for their vintage statements, this new range of whiskies is a departure from that tradition. Introducing The Glenrothes Soleo Collection. These new age statement whiskies have been released as a part of their core line up. The unrivaled quality and extraordinary character of the distillery remain the same.Bottled at 86 proof, The Glenrothes 18 Year Old has received 98 points, #3 in the "Top 100 Spirits of 2020 and Chairmans Trophy for Best Speyside Single Malt" by the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, 2020. In 2018 F. Paul Pacult called this scotch "The Glenrothes at its majestic peak".The refined character and balance of The Glenrothes 18 Year Old is impressive. It opens the experience with aromas of almonds, pear, vanilla and citrus. It is rich on the palate with a vanilla, rosewater, pear and fresh ginger, leading to an elegant finish with lingering notes. Pour a dram for after dinner or as a compliment to fine chocolate and artisanal cheese. A must try.Pick up your bottle today!
